Broomfield, CO – October 2, 2025 — Northwest Parkway today celebrated the commissioning of new solar units with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, held in the presence of Broomfield Mayor Guyleen Castriotta, Chair of the Northwest Parkway Public Highway Authority Austin Ward, State Senator Katie Wallace, and VINCI Highways President Belen Marcos. The event also marked the unveiling of the Parkway’s new brand identity.

The new solar panels add 88.5 kW of capacity, bringing the Parkway’s total solar production to more than 150 kW. Units are installed on the roofs of Parkway buildings and along the highway. To date, these installations already cover about 75% of the Parkway’s administrative and maintenance buildings’ energy needs. A new project is now underway to reach 100% renewable coverage in the coming years.

This initiative builds on more than a decade of solar development on the Parkway, which has already generated over 1,400 MWh of renewable energy and avoided more than 1,100 tons of CO₂. It also reflects VINCI Highways’ program to strengthen environmental performance across its network in the United States and internationally. Since joining VINCI Highways’ network, the Parkway has implemented a series of upgrades, from expanding its solar program to installing LED lighting and adding EV charging stations. Building on this progress, it is further reducing its footprint by transitioning service vehicles to electric, lowering energy and natural gas use, and exploring new renewable opportunities.

Northwest Parkway also unveiled its new brand identity this week. The updated logo draws inspiration from Colorado’s landscape, highlighting the surrounding mountains and open plains, and the role of the highway as a connector for local communities. It expresses both the Parkway’s long-standing ties to its region and a new momentum as part of the VINCI Highways global network.

“The Northwest Parkway is more than just a connector for our region — it’s a partner in building a sustainable future,” said Broomfield Mayor Guyleen Castriotta. “This solar expansion shows how Broomfield and Lafayette can benefit from innovation that reduces emissions, supports our climate goals, and delivers real community impact.”

“With Northwest Parkway, we are showing how road operations can increasingly be powered by renewable energy,” said Belen Marcos, President of VINCI Highways. “I want to thank the municipalities of Broomfield and Lafayette, our grantors, for their excellent cooperation.
VINCI Highways will be a long-term partner, supporting the attractiveness and growth of the western Denver area and ensuring the Parkway delivers the best standards of road performance.”
